Content:

  1. Meaning of Family:
  • A family is a group of people who are related by blood, marriage, or adoption.
  • Family members live together or take care of one another.
  • Families provide love, protection, and support.
  • Types of Family:
    • Nuclear Family: This consists of a father, mother, and their children living together.
    • Extended Family: This includes the nuclear family plus other relatives such as grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins living together or near each other.
    • Single Parent Family: A family where a child or children live with only one parent, either mother or father.
    • Childless Family: A family with a married couple but no children.

    Importance of Family:

      • Families take care of us when we are sick or in need.
      • They teach us good manners and values.
      • Families provide love and a sense of belonging.
      • Presentation Steps :
      • Begin the lesson by asking pupils what they understand by the word “family.”
      • Discuss briefly their answers and guide them to the idea that a family is a group of people who are related to each other and live together or care for each other.

      Activities:

      1. Draw your family tree and label the members.
      2. Discuss in groups the type of family you belong to and share with the class.
      3. Role play: Pretend to be a member of a nuclear family and an extended family and describe your daily activities.

      Conclusion:
      Summarize the lesson by reinforcing the meaning of family and the different types. Emphasize the importance of family in providing care and support.
