Meaning of Social Studies

Social Studies is the study of man and his physical environment. It is a subject that deals with human relationships and the way society works.

A man is an adult male human.

What is environment? An environment simply means our surroundings. It is our surrounding in which plants, animals and man lives. We also have physical environment such as rivers, oceans, mountains, hills, plateau, etc.

Presentation Steps:

Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners and welcomes them to their new class.

Step 2 : He/she introduces the new topic by explaining the meaning of Social Studies.

Step 3 : He/she then describe the environment and what makes up the environment.

Step 4 : He then gives the learners some Note to copy in their notebooks.
