Previous Knowledge: The learners are familiar with organizations and some roles played by these organizations.
Content:
O. A. U simply means Organisation of African Unity. It was formed in 1963, by African leaders. It later changed it name from Organisation of African Unity (OAU) to African Union (A.U).
The A.U covers the entire continents of Africa except for Morocco, which did not join because of some issue at hand. The first Assembly of the A. U. was convened in the year 2022.
The headquarters of the A.U is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The A.U. is made up of four organs known as structures.
The Structure of the African Union are also known as the organs. These are:
i. The Assembly;
ii. The Executive Council;
iii. The Commission and
iv. The Permanent Representative Committee.
Objectives of the African Union (A. U.)
The following are the objectives of the A.U.:
1. To achieve greater unity and solidarity between African countries.
2. To defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of its member states
3. To encourage cooperation among members.
4. To promote democracy in all member countries .
Presentation Steps:
Step 1: The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions orally so as to arouse their interest.
Step 2: He/She introduced the lesson by asking the learners, “What is the meaning of A. U?”
Step 3: He/ she then describes the African Union.
Step 4: He/ she then states the objectives of A. U. and identifies its structures.
Evaluation:

Conclusion : At the end of the lesson, learners were able to answer the questions correctly. The teacher then buttressed the point all over again.
