Content :
Ilé-Ifè is an ancient Yoruba city in the South Western Nigeria. It is a famous city known for its art work between 700 and 900AD. The Ife began to develop as an important artistic centre such as bronze, stone and terracotta sculptures. Some of which are found today in Museums in Nigeria.
Ifè was founded around 500 B.C., and is the oldest Yoruba city according to History. It is presently part of Osun State and has population of over 500,000 people. Ìfẹ́ is the home to the natural History museum and Obafemi Awolowo University (O . A. U), which is one of the leading academic institution in West Africa named in honor of Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo (1909 – 1987), an eminent nationalist and one of the modern Nigerian distinguish founders. Yorùbá remains the vast majority of Ife’s inhabitants.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions orally.
Step 2 : He/ she introduces the new lesson topic by describing the ancient settlement in Ilé-Ifè.
Step 3 : He / she then mentions the location of Ile-Ìfẹ́ and the major occupations, that is what they are known for.
Step 4 : Identify the year Ilé-Ifè was founded and were the art works were kept, as well as the academic institution in the region.
