Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to
i. Identify the cares given to clothing
ii. Mention some of the materials used in caring for clothes.
The care clothes receive gives the wearer a longer life of using the clothing. When a button falls off, it should be replaced to give fitting to the clothes.
The following are some steps that are taken to care and maintain our clothes.
1. Air clothes to dry them when you take them off, in order to get rid of body odour.
2. There should be a clean space for storing clothes that we wear daily.
3. Mend your clothes when the armpit or any other part gives way.
4. Fix detached buttons.
5. If colour fades, you can dye it and make it last longer.
6. The clothes that becomes too small for a big sister, can be handed down to a younger sister or relation.
Materials needed for care and maintenance of clothes.
There are some materials that we need, to care for and maintain our clothes. Without these materials, we would not be able to get a longer use of our clothing.
The following are some of the materials:
I. Needle and thread
II. Basin or Big bowl of bucket
III. Soap and water
IV. Hangers
V. A clothes line
VI. Pressing iron and a table or ironing board.
VII. Moth balls or camphor
VIII. Starch
IX. Blue
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revision of the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions p
Step 2 : Introduces the lesson by explaining the care given to our clothes.
Step 3 : Identify and mention the materials used for caring for our clothing
