Behavioural Objectives: By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to :
i. State the uses of clothes
ii. Describe how to care for our clothes.
CONTENT:
Reason for Wearing Clothes
People use different kinds of clothes for different reasons. The reasons why people wear clothes includes:-
1. To protect the body.
2. To keep the body warm.
3. To beautify the body.
4. To show our culture.
5. To make us comfortable.
6. To keep us safe. e. g. Overall, fire proof clothes
7. To cover our nakedness.
Care of clothes
Clothes can be cared for by :
a. Washing: This is the cleaning of dirt from the clothes by using soap, clean water and stain remover if necessary.
b. Drying: This is the spreading of the clothes on lines or hanger in order to drain of water from the clothes.
c. Ironing: This is the use of heat to smoothen the clothes.
d. Storing: This is the folding and arrangement of clothes in the bag, box or wardrobe.
e. Mending: This is the sewing of any loose or tore part of the clothes.
Materials for Caring for Clothes
There are different materials for caring for our clothing in order to make them last long. These includes:
i. Bar soap or detergent ( powder soap) or liquid soap
ii. Clean water
iii. A bowl or bucket
iv. Washing machine
v. Hangers
vi. Clothing lines
vii. starch/ Stiffer
viii. Robbin blue
ix. Moth ball/ Camphor
PRESENTATION:
Step 1: The teacher revises the previous topic taught with the learners.
Step 2: He/ She introduces the new topic
Step 3: He / She explains the lesson to the learners based on the stated objectives
Step 4: He/ She makes the lesson to be interactive with group discussions
Step 5: He / She then rap up the lesson by emphasizing on the salient points.
EVALUATION: The teacher reviews the lesson by asking the following questions:
1. State four reasons for wearing clothes
