Content :
Drugs are substances that are taken into the body to cure diseases or illnesses.
Categories of drugs
Drugs can be classified into two categories which are :
1. Legal drugs
2. Socially acceptance drugs
3. Illegal drugs.
Legal drugs : These are drugs that are not common but which can be used if prescribed I.e. Given to us by a doctor. The drug seller will not sell such drugs if the buyer does not present the prescription form or the card or paper where the doctor wrote the drugs. Examples of these drugs are Valium 5, Augmentin, Lexotan, etc.
Socially Acceptance Drugs : These are drugs that are well known by people and that are sold at drug stores or given by doctors in the hospital. They are sold without a doctor’s prescription . They are not harmful and can be used to cure illness like pains and aches. Examples are paracetamol, Ampicillin and cough syrups.
Illegal drugs : These are drugs that are considered harmful to the body and banned. The law prevent people from using them. Anybody found with such drugs would be arrested. Examples of illegal drugs are : heroines, cocaine, Indian hemp, etc.
Benefits of drugs to our body
1. Drugs use helps to cure diseases and illnesses
2. It also help to protect us from sickness or diseases. Examples of protecting drugs are vaccines of polio and immunization.

Step 1 : Revision of the previous lesson taught with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic by asking them to identify categories of drugs.
Step 3 : Explains the categories of drugs with examples.
