Content :
Causes of Road Accidents
Road accident can occur at any time any where. The following are causes of road accidents :
1. Carelessness : Road accidents may occur as a result of carelessness on the part of the road users. A pedestrian may cross the road without looking left and right. A driver may also lose concentration while driving due to his mind set.
2. Drinking of alcohol : Drivers who take alcohol before or while driving could have accidents. It is against the law to drink alcohol and drive.
3. Disobedience to traffic rules : Traffic rules are the laws we must obey when driving or using the road. Disobeying these rules can lead to road accidents.
4. Lack of proper maintenance : It is important to check our vehicles very well before going on a journey. If not the vehicle may breakdown or cause accident on the road.
5. Bad Roads : A bad road is a road that has a lot of potholes, bends steeps and gallops. Drivers who over-speed and falls into the holes causes accident in the process of swerving.
6. Inability to read road signs also causes accidents on our roads. This is because the driver does not understand what to do.
7. Speeding : This is when a driver goes beyond the maximum speed limit. It results in accident because he/she loses control in an emergency cases.
8. Impatience : This is when the road users are in a hurry, it can lead to accident.
9. Falling asleep while driving : Take enough rest before setting on a journey. When you are tired, do not drive to avoid causing accident .
10. Narrow bridge :
Effects of Road Accidents
The following are the effects of road accidents on the road users.
1. Death
2. Life injury (blindness, amputated legs or arms)
3. Broken hands or leg
4. Internal bleeding which may lead to death.
5. Damage of vital organs in our body
6. Damages of the vehicle part.

Step 2 : Introduces the new topic by identifying causes of road accident.
