A citizen is a legal member of a country. It can also be defined as a person who belongs to a particular state or country.
As a citizen of a particular country, there are some rights we are to enjoy. We also have some things expected of us, for the smooth running of a nation.
Right as a citizen of a nation.
Rights are the privileges in which you can enjoy or benefit from as a citizen. Below are some of our rights as a citizen
1. Fundamental human rights:
a) Right to life
b) Right to own properties
c) Right to vote and be voted for
d) Right to freedom of religion
e) Right to freedom of movement
2. Obeying rules and regulations
3. Protections of life and properties
4. Payment of taxes
An alien is also known as a foreigner. This is a person that does not belong to a particular country. For example, a person from Nigeria is an alien in another country.
Methods of becoming a citizen.
There are various ways of becoming a citizen of a country. These could be
1. By birth
2. By naturalization
3. By registration
4. By consent
5. By conquest
