COMPONENTS OF WHITE LIGHT
Colours can give us in different emotion. It can make us to be happy, confuse, sad, angry,etc. Most things found around us are made up of different Colours. –
The sun gives us natural light. The light is made up of seven colours. The colours of light are ROYGBIV. The colours of light can also be called the spectrum of white light or rainbow colours.
R = Red
O = Orange
Y = Yellow
G = Green
B = Blue
I = Indigo
V = Violet
CLASSIFICATION OF COLOUR
We have three types of colours, these are:
1. Primary colours or natural colours: they are green, red and blue. Things with primary colours are biter leaf (green), pumpking leaf (green), clay soil (reddish brown), Kolanut (reddish brown), rose flower (red), hibiscus flower (red).
2. Secondary Colours : These are Colours gotten by mixing two primary colours. The process of producing secondary colour is called Additive colour mixing.
Examples of secondary colours are magenta, cyan, yellow and orange.
3. Tertiary colour : These are Colours that are formed by mixing one Primary colour and a secondary colour together. Examples of tertiary Colours are Grey,
PRODUCTION OF COLOURS FROM PRIMARY COLOURS
Red + Green = Yellow
Blue + Green = Cyan
Red + Blue = Magenta
Uses of Colours.
1. Colours can be used to give information about something.
2. Colours is used to beautify our environment.
3. Colours are used for road safety signs.
4. Colours is used as royal symbol of authority.
5. It is used for making designs in attire or fabric (clothing materials).
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions orally.
Step 2 : Teacher introduces the lesson through question and answer as follows : “what is colour?”, “Where can it be gotten from?”
Step 3 : The Teacher explains the lessons in details.
Step 4 : The Teacher write the note on the board.
Evaluation :
Teacher ask the learners the following questions:
1. Identify three colours around us.
2. List the colours of rainbow.
3. Mention the types of colours.
4. Give examples of the following :
i. Primary Colours : _____________, _____________, ___________________
ii. Secondary Colours : ______________, ______________, _________________.
Conclusion : The teacher summarizes the lesson all over again.
Assignment :
1. Make a colour wheel with Primary and secondary Colours.
2. Mention three uses of Colours.
