Values are the moral standards or ideals with which we evaluate actions, people, things, or situations.
Examples of values endorsed by people in our community are:
i. Respect. ii. Integrity
iii. Caring iv. Inspiration
v. Friendship vi. Excellence
vii. Co-operation viii. Hospitality
ix. Equality x. Tolerance
Types of values
There are basically three types of values which are:
- Character Values: are the universal values that you need to exist as a good human being.
- Work Values: are the values in which an employee contributes towards the growth of the organization.
- Personal Values: are the values portrayed by an individual in a society.
Community values as one of the components of Civic Education that teaches us the set of good values and expectations that we can share with other members of the community.
It is this good values that will lead to the growth and development of the community as well as well-being of its members. Examples are honesty, courage, respect, beauty,
It also teaches us about the wrong values that we should avoid and the consequences of getting involved in crime. Examples are stealing, fighting, cheating, telling lies, bribery, etc.
Presentation Step:
Step 1: The teacher revises the previous lesson explained by asking questions orally.
Step 2: He/ she introduces the new topic by asking, “what are values? ”
Step 3: The teacher explains and list examples of values.
Step 4: He /she then, mention the types of values and explains.
Evaluation:
