Previous Knowledge : Learners are familiar with the right and Duties of citizens and government.
Content :
Component of Civic Education has to do with the nationality right, duties of democratic practices and community values.
Civic Education is a subject that promotes Civic knowledge, civics kills, Civic values and Civic virtues.
Duties of Democratic Practices
1. Civic responsibilities are exercised by all the citizens.
2. Democratic practices protect human freedom.
3. It protects the fundamental human right of individual.
4. It guides against dictatorship.
5. Democratic practices ensure that all citizens receive equal protection.
6. Democratic practices help in conducting regular free and fair election.
Community Values
Community values are the values that make up the moral standard of the community. These are the values that helps us to understand our community and how it operates.
Examples of community values and principles are :
1. Democratic.
2. Non – authoritarian.
3. Community self determination.
4. Community ownership.
5. Social justice and equity.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revision of the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic by explaining component of Civic Education with Nationality right
Step 3 : Explains democratic practices and Duties of democratic practices.
Step 4 : Describe community values and give examples of community values and principles.
