Content :
Components of Civic Education are those aspects that make up Civic Education. These are :
1. Nationality : This simply means a set of people sharing a common origin, language, culture and tradition in a geographical entity. It can also mean being a member of a nation by birth, migration or origin.
2. Rights and Duties : Rights are what an individual is expected to have, that is the entitlement of a person, while duty is what an individual is supposed to do. It simply means an obligation.
3. Democratic practices : Democracy is ruled by the people, it is the system of government that allows citizens to participate in governing by voting during election. The democratic practices involves free elections, citizen participation, minority right and representative constitutional government.
4. Community values : These are Basic principles or standards that a community expects it citizens to follow. Example of community values are : loyalty, honesty, efficiency, etc.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revision of the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions.
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic to the learners by asking them to mention the components of Civic Education.
Step 3 : Explains each component of Civic Education.
Step 4 : Gives examples of the components of Civic Education.
