Content :
Dangerous Chemicals are the chemicals used at home, offices or in school. They can be dangerous to our health if not properly kept and used.
Examples of dangerous chemicals are :
1. Detergent
2. Petrol
3. Gasoline
4. Acid (battery acid)
5. Furniture polish
6. Bleach e.g. Hypo, jik
7. Pesticides e.g. Snipper, DD force
8. Air fresheners
9. Household cleaners
10. Methylated spirit
11. Baking powder
12. Insecticides e.g. Baygon, Raid, Mobil, etc.
Ways of avoiding dangerous chemicals
1. These chemicals used at home and in school should be properly kept away in a store being locked up.
2. After the chemicals have been used, , the environment should be properly washed
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : He / she introduces the new topic by defining dangerous Chemicals.
Step 3 : Then gives examples of dangerous chemicals and where that can be found at home or in the school.
Step 4 : Suggest safe ways of handling dangerous Chemicals at home and in the school.
