Instructional Material : Chart showing the examples of drugs that are commonly abused such as paracetamol, phensic, cough syrup, blood tonic, cocaine, heroine, Marijuana, etc.
Previous Knowledge : Learners have been taught categories of drugs.
Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :

Content :
Meaning of Drug Abuse.
Drug Abuse is the use of drugs without the prescription or doctors advice.
When we take drugs without the knowledge of our parents teachers or health officials, it is called drug abuse.
We must ensure to be very careful with the use of drugs when we are ill.
Hence, using drugs given to us by our friends is dangerous to our health.
Examples of commonly abused drugs are :
Legal drugs are drugs good and useful to our body. They are given by doctors, nurses and pharmacists. Examples of legal drugs that are commonly abused are : paracetamol, panadol, cough syrup, blood tonic and sedative (sleeping pills), etc.
They can also be abused when the correct dosage is not followed by taking overdose or under dose.
Illegal drugs are dangerous or hard drugs that can harm our body and cause them to mal-function. Examples of hard or illegal drugs are :
1. Marijuana. 2. Cocaine
3. Heroine. 4. Tramadol
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous week Topic with the learners by asking them questions orally.
Step 2 : He / she introduces the new topic by asking the learners, ” what is drug abuse?”
Step 3 : After several attempts and idea from the learners the teacher then construct a simple definition of drug abuse.
Step 4 : Asks learners to give examples of commonly abused drugs.
