BEHAVIOURAL OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:

i. Define Family

ii.  Identify the types of family

 

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Pupils are familiar with members of their family

 

CONTENT:

A family is a group of people who are related by blood, marriage or adoption.

Types of family

Nuclear family: This is made up of father, mother and children.

Extended family: This is made up of father,  mother,  children and other relatives.

The other relatives are family members like uncle,  aunt, nephew, niece, cousins,  grandfather,  grandmother, etc.

Family tree is the relationship that exist between each family members.

 

PRESENTATION: The teacher present the lesson to the pupils using the steps below:

STEP 1: Revision of the previous knowledge

STEP 2: Introduction of the new topic by defining family and list types of family.

STEP 3: Explanation of the types of family and mention examples

STEP 4: He / she explain family tree.

 

EVALUATION: The teacher reviews the lesson, by asking the pupils the following questions:

1. A family is a group of people who are related by  ____________.  (a)  water  (b) blood  (c) rice

2. One of the examples of the types of family is _____________. (a)  group  (b)  cup  (c) Nuclear

 

ASSIGNMENT: Answer the following questions

1. Color the picture of a family tree.

 

CONCLUSION: At the end of the lesson,  the teacher explains further using a chart of a family.
