Instructional Material : Chart showing types of farm records and importance of farm record.
Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. Define Farm Record
ii. Discuss the types of farm records
iii. State importance of farm records to the farmer.
Content:
Farm record is a documentation or writing down of all the activities that are taking place on the farm.
Types of farm records
1. Farm inventory record: This is the record that shows all the assets that are being possessed on the farm. e.g building, tractors, power plants, plough, etc.
2. Farm diary: This is the type of record that shows the day-to-day activities on a daily basis on the farm.
3. Production record: This is the record that shows all the crops that are being produced on the farm.e.g livestock or poultry.
4. Sales records shows the records of products sold on the farm.
5. Purchase record shows all items that are bought by the farmers .e.g seeds, fertilizers, farm machineries and tools.
6. Labour record: this shows the amount and types of labour hired or employed to work on the farm. Also shows the rates and wages paid.
Importance of keeping farm records
1. It helps the farmer to know if he/ she is making profit.
2. It helps the farmer to plan for the future .
3. It gives room for the farmer to have access to loan.

Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revision of the previous lesson taught with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic by defining the farm records and identify types of farm records.
Step 3 : Explains each types of farm records. He/ she then state the importance of keeping farm records.
Evaluation :
1. Define farm records.
2. List and explain five types of farm record you have learnt.
3. State three importance of keeping farm records.
Conclusion : Teacher collects the learners notebooks for marking and makes necessary corrections.
