Content :
Types of Food we eat in Nigeria.
Nigeria is a multi – cultured society. It has over 250 ethnic groups and their culture. Some are similar while some are different. Each culture has a peculiar food they enjoy eating.
Some of the foods are : Bread, Egg, Yam, Rice, Beans, Garri, Eba, Amala, Semovita, Tuwo, etc.
In Yoruba land, some of the food eaten are :
- Amala and Ewedu
- Eba and Egusi soup
- Pounded yam and Efo riro
- Ikokore
In the Hausa land, some of the food eaten are :
- Tuwo shinkafa,
- Fura denunu
In the Igbo land, some of the food eaten are :
- Akpu and ogbono soup
- Starch and banga soup
- Yellow Garri (Eba) and bitterleaf soup.
- Abacha
- Okpa
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : He introduces the new topic to the learners by asking them to mention the different kinds of food eaten.
Step 3 : Identify various food eaten from the three major tribes in Nigeria
Step 4 : Asks learners to mention the traditional foods eaten in their state or various ethnic groups.
