Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. Explain the future tense
ii. Identify the future tense in any given sentences
iii. Make simple sentences using the future tense.
Content
The future means ‘ the time after now’. The following structures are used to express the future tense in English.
1. will + verb = There will be rain in Lagos, according to weather reports.
2. be + going to + verb = It is going to rain in a few hours time; I can see the clouds.
3. Present simple tense = My French language course finishes next month.
4. Present continuous tense = I’m meeting my class teacher next week.
5. Will / Shall + be + verb + ing = Next month, I shall/ will be celebrating my birthday.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions.
Step 2 : The teacher introduces the new topic to the learners by explaining the meaning of future Tense.
Step 3 : He/ she illustrate various ways of forming future tense using will or shall.
Step 4 : He / she also forms future tense using present simple tense or present continuous tense with examples.
