Content :
Gender discrimination is the way people are treated because of their sex. It is denying someone his or her right just because that person is a male or female.
Areas in which gender discrimination occurred are:
- Education
- Employment
- Politics
- Family roles
- Access to loans
- Decision making
- Inheritance
- Social activities
- Security and defense, etc.
CONSEQUENCES OF GENDER DISCRIMINATION:
i. It leads to inferiority complex
ii. Underutilization of human resources,
iii. Denials of equal opportunities,
iv. Denials of fundamentals human right.
SOLUTIONS TO GENDER DISCRIMINATION
1. Equal opportunity should be given to men and women,
2. Encouragement of girl child education
3. There should be Respect for the fundamental human rights of women,
4. Implementation of affirmative action
5. Cultures, law and administration that against women should be stopped
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The Teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions on water and Air Transportation.
Step 2 : The Teacher introduces the topic by explaining the meaning Gender Discrimination
Step 3 : The Teacher explains and identify the areas where gender discrimination occurs with examples.
Step 4 : The teacher states the consequences and solutions of gender discrimination.
