Previous Knowledge : Learners are familiar with some road signs and traffic symbols.
Content :
Highway codes are the signs, symbols or mark used on the road to communicate to various road users. These signs or symbols can be in the inform of posters, bill board, banners erect on the road for proper communication and safe use of the road.
Examples of highway codes are :
1. U turn
2. Cross junction
3. T Junction
4. Zebra crossing
5. No parking
6. No Left turn
7. No Right turn
8. No U-turn
9. Left turn
10. Right turn
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions orally.
Step 2 : He/ she introduces the new topic by explaining the meaning of highway codes to the learners
Step 3 : Asks the learners to mention some of the examples of highway codes with the aid of a chart hang on the wall of the classroom
Step 4 : The teacher then state the meaning of the various highway codes mentioned with their signs.
