Content :
Housing is generally, living spaces. It refers to the construction and assigned usage of houses or buildings individually or collectively, for the purpose of shelter.
Housing is a basic human need, and it plays a critical role in shaping the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities.
Types of Houses.
The geography of an area affects the types of houses that people build and live in.
In Northern Nigeria, in the rural areas, people build huts made from mud. They use thatch or grass to make their roofs.
In the swampy and riverine areas, people build houses on stilts. Stilts are long pieces of wood which are stuck deep into the bottom of the river.
In the rainforest regions and lowland areas, people build houses from mud and concrete.
People who live in the urban cities and towns build houses made from cement and concrete with roofs made from iron sheets.
There are different types of concrete buildings, which includes :
1. Skyscrapers are extremely tall buildings with many floors.
2.) Duplexes are buildings with two floors.
3.) Bungalows are buildings with one floor.
Acquiring Housing in Nigeria.
There are different ways of accessing housing in Nigeria.
A person can either own a house or rent one.
People can become home owners by :
1. Building of their own
2. Buying of a house
3. Inheriting a house.
