i. State the importance of Civic Education to National Development.
Content :
Civic Education is very important in national development. It helps us to develop the nation by making citizens to:
1. Be actively involved in developmental issues.
2. Know their duties and why it should be performed.
3. Learn about systems, in situations of government and democratic process.
4. Develop skills such as active citizenship, inquiry, cooperation, etc.
5. Be educated on multiple roles in the society, e.g. as producers and consumers of goods and services.
6. Have interest in Civic matters especially in the political, social and economic process.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous term’s work with the learners by asking them questions orally.
Step 2 : He / she then introduces the new topics by defining Civic Education.
Step 3 : Identify the importance of Civic Education to National development.
Step 4 : Teacher writes Note on the board for the learners to copy in their notebooks.
Evaluation : The teacher evaluates the learners as follows:
1. Mention four importance of Civic Education in National development.
Conclusion : At the end of the lesson, the learners were able to answer the question asked by the teacher.
