i. State the importance of Civic Education to National Development.
Previous Knowledge : Learners are familiar and have been taught components of Civic Education.
Content :
1. Self acquisition is highly needed in national development. It contributes to the nation’s human capital and is seen as important for preparing employment. Examples of skill acquisitions are tailoring, welding, barbing, hairdressing, carpentry, printing, computer training, etc.
2. Civic education helps us to learn about system ands institutions of government, that is the three arms of government which are : legislature, judiciary and executive
3. It helps us to acquire skills as an active citizens.
4. It helps to promote peace and cooperation between ourselves.
5. It helps us to learn about democracy and the process such as elections, voting etc.
6. It helps us as citizens to know our democratic rights and Duties.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revision of the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions orally.
Step 2 : He /she introduces the new lesson topic by explaining the components of Civic Education.
Step 3 : State the importance of Civic Education to National Development.
