iii. State the importance of having a leader in the society.
Content :
Leaders are the people that guide, direct and lead other members of the community. They also have some roles they perform in their community or society at large.
There are three different types of leaders. These are :
i. Traditional leaders eg. Ọba, Chiefs, Emir, Igwe, Eze, Obi, Sultan, etc.
ii. Religious leaders : Pastor, Imam, Bishop, Priests, etc.
iii. Political leaders : President, Governor, Chairman, Ministers, Commissioners, etc
Importance of political leaders in the society.
1. They help to maintain law and orders.
2. They help to build the society and nation at large.
3. They help in securing the society.
4. They help in developing the economy of the country.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions orally.
Step 2 : He / she introduces the new topic by defining a leader
Step 3 : Identify the types of leaders and gives examples of each type.
Step 4 : State the importance of having a leader in the society.
