Content :
Meaning of loyalty.
Loyalty is showing support or allegiance to a person or an institution. Loyalty is a situation where people wait patiently with the hope and believe that there will be improvement on something.
Loyalty simply means faithfulness to others. Loyalty can be shown to persons, groups and constituted authorities such as family, schools, community, State and nation.
Evidence of Loyalty
Loyalty is manifested or shown in the following ways:
i.) Obedience: we show loyalty by obeying our parents, relations, teachers, leaders, etc.
ii.) Respect: Loyalty is also shown by giving respect to people, institutions, national symbols and the nation at large.
iii.) Willingness to serve: We show loyalty in our willingness to serve our fatherland, as it is recited in the national anthem. This is demonstrated in moments when there is crises such as external aggression
iv.) Good representation: we show loyalty whenever we are to represent our group, community or country in an event, we strive to do well. For example, during sport activities.
v.) Giving assistance and making sacrifices: This is seen in situations whereby we are required to render assistance to others. We demonstrate loyalty to the affected persons by giving them assistance as much as possible without complaining. This is called sacrifice.
vi.) Goodwill: This is having a friendly or helpful feelings towards other people or country.
vii.) Support: Loyalty can be shown by being supportive to our government and fellow countrymen and women in times of need.
Presentation Steps:
Step I: The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them to mention importance of Civic Education.
Step II: He / She introduces the new topic by asking the question, ‘ what is loyalty?’
Step III: The teacher then explains the meaning of loyalty to the learners and gives several illustrations.
Step IV: He / She then states evidences of loyalty for a better understanding.
Evaluation: The teacher reviews the lesson by asking questions based on the lesson explained as follows:
