Previous Knowledge: Learners are familiar with family as one related by blood.
Content:
A family is a group of people related by blood or marriage.
Types of family
There are basically two types of family namely:
1.) Nuclear family: This is the type of family that consist of father, mother and children only.
2.) Extended family : This is the type of family this is made up of father, mother, children and other relatives.
The other relatives are grand parents, uncles, aunt, cousins, nephews and nieces.
The picture above is made up of the extended family. It comprises of father, mother, children, grandfather and grandmother.
Family Tree.
A family tree is a diagram that shows the relationship or link between the members of a family.
Below is a simple family tree.
Presentation Steps:
Step 1: The teacher revises the previous terms work with the learners to arouse their interest.
Step 2: He/ she introduces the new topic by asking the learners, “what is family?”
Step 3: The teacher then asks the learners to mention the types of family.
Step 4: He/ she asks the learners to identify the members in each type of families.
