Content :
Time is a measure of duration used in performing specified activities within a specified time frame.
Time can also be defined as the framework of performing activities.
Instrument for measuring time.
The instrument for measuring time are classified into two groups:
1.) Ancient instrument: These are the instruments used in olden days. Some are natural while some are artificial. Examples are : hour glass, candle light, sound of bird (cock), water on fire, pendulum, etc.
2.) Modern instrument: These are the instruments used in measuring time because they are accurate and reliable. These includes: table clock, wall clock, stop watch, wristwatch, phones, etc.
Unit of measure of time.
The unit of time is seconds.
Other units of time are : minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, year, etc.
Metric Unit of measure of time.
60 seconds = 1 minute
60 minutes = 1 hour
24 hours = 1 day
7 days = 1 week
4 weeks = 1 month
12 months = 1 year
52 weeks = 1 year
365 days = 1 year
366 days = 1 leap year
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revision of the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic by defining time and state the unit of time.
Step 3 : Asks the learners to Identify the instrument for measuring time. Describe the different types.
Step : Asks learners to recite the metric unit of measurement of time from the chart placed in front of the board.
