Content:
Nuclear family consist of father, mother and children.
i. Son is a male child in the family.
ii. Daughter is a female child of the family.
Extended family is made up of nuclear family and other relatives. The other relatives are : aunt, uncle, nephew, niece, cousin, etc.
i. Aunt: is the sister of your father or mother.
ii. Uncle: is the brother of your father or mother.
iii. Nephew: is the male child or son of your brother or sister.
iv. Niece: is the female child or daughter of your brother or sister.
v. Grandfather: is the father of your father or mother.
vi. Grandmother: is the mother of your father or mother.
Presentation Steps:
Step 1: The teacher revises the previous weeks topic with the learners by asking them questions orally.
Step 2: He then calls the learners to explain nuclear family and describe the members.
Step 3: He/ she also asks the learners to describe the extended family and list members.
Step 4: The teacher then describes the members of the extended family and their relationship
Step 5: The teacher states the differences between the nuclear and extended family.
Evaluation: Answer the following questions :
