Content:
Nigeria is a country found in the African continent. Nigeria is located in West Africa.
Nigeria has 36 states and their capitals with FCT, Abuja. Nigeria is divided into six (6) zones called the geopolitical zones.
The six geopolitical zones include:
1. South-South: Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross-River, Delta, Edo, Rivers
2. South-West: Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo
3. South – East: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo
4. North- East: Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe.
5. North – West: Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara
6. North – Central: Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nassarawa, Niger and Plateau.
Presentation Steps:
Step 1: The teacher revises the previous class work with the learners
Step 2: He/ she introduces the new topic by describing Nigeria as a country and its location
Step 3: He/she asks the learners to recite states and their capitals, and asked them how many states do we have in Nigeria?
Step 4: The teacher then explains the meaning of Geopolitical Zones and mentions them with the list of states contained by each zones.
