ii. Identify the states and their capitals
iii. Mention the largest cities and languages spoken in the region.
Content :
North East Geopolitical Zones is known for its large forest found in the region with mountains. For example, the forest found in Appala China mountain as well as it’s many fisheries because of its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The North East also have very fertile soil which is ideal for farming. Many businesses have opened up in the region because of these natural resources.
Limestones has the highest mineral reserve in North East region, followed by coal, oil and natural gas.
North East is made up of six (6) states which occupies less than one – third of the countries population. The states under the North East are :

The largest city is Maiduguri. Other cities are Bauchi, Yola, Mubi, Gombe, Jimata, Jalingo and Gashua.
The language spoken in this region are Bade, Bata, Bole, Cibak. Daka and English.
North East contributes greatly to the economy of the country through crop productions and livestock rearing. They contributes greatly to agricultural sectors in the country. They are specialize in mat weaving, embroidery, pottery, fishing, dyeing and blacksmithing are practiced.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : He/ she introduces the new topic to the learners by describing the North East Geopolitical Zones.
Step 3 : Identify the states and capitals of the North East Geopolitical Zones
Step 4 : Mentions the major cities and some of the languages spoken in the region.
