Content :
A nutrient is the nourishment in food, drinks and fruits that gives energy, aid growth, builds and repairs damage tissues in the body.
A nutrient is a source of nourishment for the body.
Food is any nutritious substances that human and animals eat or drink to stay alive and healthy.
The Six classes of Food.
The Six classes of foods are :
1. Carbohydrates
2. Proteins
3. Fats and oils
4. Vitamins
5. Mineral Salt
6. Water
Importance of Food to our growth.
1. Carbohydrates gives energy and strength to the body.
2. Proteins help to repair and replace damage or worn-out tissues in the body.
3. Vitamins protect the body and makes us healthy.
4. Fats and oils help to keep the body warm and also supplies heat energy.
5. Mineral salts protect and makes us healthy.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : He/ she introduces the new topic by defining nutrients and food.
Step 3 : The teacher then identify and list the nutrients found in the six classes of food.
Step 4 : Mentions the importance of the food nutrients.
