Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. Identify the past Continuous Tense of verb in any given sentences.
ii. Make simple sentences in the past Continuous Tense form.
Content :
The past Continuous Tense refers to an action that was going on in the past at a time when another thing happened.
It is formed by using ‘was’ or ‘were’ and a continuous tense.
‘Was’ + ‘verb + -ing’ or ‘were’ +’ verb + -ing’
Examples of past Continuous Tense are given below :
1. I was eating rice when he entered the room.
2. The men were working hard when the supervisor appeared.
3. The girls were running on the field when the snake appeared unto them
4. Ade was running home when he saw the thief.
5. It was raining when we left the house.

Step 1: Revision of the previous lesson on present continuous tense by asking the learners questions
Step 2: Introduces the new topic by explaining how to form past Continuous Tense
Step 3: Identify the past continuous tense in any given sentences. Write simple sentences in the past Continuous
