Topic: Physical Development
Physical development is the process that starts in human infancy and continues into late adolescent concentrating on gross and fine motor skills as well as puberty.
Physical development involves developing control over the body, particularly muscles and physical coordination.
Adolescence refers to the period of human growth that occurs between childhood and adulthood.
Adolescence begins at around age 10 and ends around age 21.
Adolescents experience other kinds of physical changes such as rapid increase in height and weight. Girls usually start to grow rapidly between the ages of 9 and 12.
Puberty is the period during which adolescents reach sexual maturity and become capable of reproduction.
Boys and girls experience puberty in different ways.
Puberty in Boys:
Most boys start puberty around the age of 13. At puberty, the following changes take place.
I. Hair begins to grow around their private parts, face and armpit.
II. His shoulders become wider.
III. His voice becomes much deeper.
Puberty in Girls:
Most girls typically begins puberty at the age of 11, although it can occur earlier. The following changes are observed at puberty.
I. Hair begins to grow under her arms and private part.
II. Her breasts become larger and hip widen.
III. Girls begin to experience her first menstrual period.
Factors that affect physical growth.
Children are supposed to grow up to be healthy and strong. These can be affected by the following:
1. Malnourishment
2. Illness
3. Hereditary conditions
