Content :
Fruits is an important part of food that gives us vitamins and minerals. It helps to build the immune system and and fight against germs and diseases in the body. Fruits are naturally medicinal.
There are different types of fruits with various classifications, such as dry fruits, succulent fruits, drupes, etc
1. Apples and pears
2. Citrus : oranges, grape fruits, lemons, lime, etc
3. Berries : strawberries, blue-berries, black berries, etc.
4. Stone fruits : peaches, plums
5. Tropical and exotic fruits : bananas, mango, etc.
Methods of Preserving Fruits
Fruits can be preserved by the following methods:
1. Freezing or Refrigerating
2. Canning
3. Drying
4. Pickling
5. Dehydrating
Before Preserving, some fruits are processed by turning them into juice.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions on preservation of tuber crops.
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic by asking them, “what is fruit?” and “List examples of fruits”
Step 3 : He then explains the classifications of fruits with some examples using a picture chart of different types of fruits.
Step 4 : State the different methods of Preserving fruits with examples
