Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. State the qualities of good and clean water.
ii. State the qualities of bad and dirty water
Content :
Water quality is either clean or dirty , good or bad.
Good or clean water quality should be used for drinking, and other domestic uses.
Qualities of Good or Clean Water.
1. Clean water does not have colours. (Colourless)
2. Clean water does not have taste. That is tasteless.
3. Clean water have no odour, that is odorless.
4. Clean or good water does not contain any particles whether soluble or insoluble .
Qualities of bad or dirty water.
1. Dirty water has colour
2. Dirty water has odiur, that is , it smells.
3. It contains particles, either soluble or insoluble.
Substances that contaminate water
Water can be contaminated or polluted by
1. Dumping of waste materials or refuse in water bodies.
2. Oil spillage
3. Releasing untreated sewage in water.
4. Releasing waste from industries into water
5. Using of chemicals for fishing e.g . Gamalin 20.
6. Washing in the streams.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1: Reviews the previous Lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2: Introduces the new topic by stating the qualities of clean or good water
Step 3: State the qualities of bad and dirty water.
Step 4: He/ she asks learners to identify and mentions substances that contaminate water .
Evaluation :
1. State three qualities of good and clean water
2. Mention two qualities of bad and dirty water.
Conclusion : At the end of the lesson learners were able to answer the questions correctly.
