Content :
Simple machines are made of two parts
1. Handle
2. Metal (blade or sharp part)
Safe use of simple machines are the ways we handle the machines when using them. We should handle the simple machine with care to avoid having injury such as cut or blow.
For examples :
1. Knife : Do not hold the knife at the tip or blade part, but hold on to the rubber or wooden handle.
2. Scissors : Avoid touching or holding the sharp blade part. Hold from the wooden or rubber handle.
3. Hammer : You have to focus when using the hammer to drive nail. This helps to avoid blow on your finger.
4. Fork : Fork is a dangerous tools when it is not used properly.
5. Opener : You have to hold on to the bottle before using the opener.
6. Broom : When sweeping with broom, you must hold it at the bottom in order not to pick your hands.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revision of the previous topic learnt by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : Introduction of the new topic by identifying the parts of the Simple machines
Step 3 : Explains the safe use of simple machines by demonstrating with the learners.
