Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. Explain Safety Education
ii. Mention some safety rules
iii. State the conditions that requires first aid at home and in school.
Content :
Safety means keeping yourself and others free from harm and danger.
Safety education is acquisition of knowledge and skills or dealing with emergencies, resulting from accidents and also preventing accidents through the early removal of hazards that is being careful not to fall, bump or run into things.
Safety Rules at home
i. Do not talk to a stranger.
ii. Do not get into a stranger car.
iii. Do not play with chemical or sharp objects
iv. Call for help if there is fire.
v. Do not smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol.
vi. Do not pick call if it is not your parents calls.
Safety Rules in the School.
1. The play ground should not be littered with dangerous objects, such as broken bottles, nails and cans.
2. The correct clothes or dress for each sport should be worn to avoid injuries.
3. Potholes in the play ground should be filled up.
4. Avoid any sort of competition on a play ground that is slippery or water logged.
5. Medical examination of athletes to know their fitness level is very important.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson learnt by asking learners questions based on the topic.
Step 2 : The teacher introduces the new topic by explaining the meaning of safety education to the learners.
Step 3 : The teacher lead learners by demonstrating some safety education.
Step 4 : The teacher mention some safety rules at home and school.
