The Blue print is related to buildings plan.
The Blue print is the duplicate print of the original drawing of a building plan, drawn to scale and designed by the Architect with line on blue back ground.
The blue print is also known as a working drawing, packed together as one document.
The blue print is a set of approved building plan drawings necessary to be put in place before the construction of any building commences.
Stages involved in the construction of a building.
1) The foundation stage
2) The walling stage
3) The roofing stage
4) The finished stage
Features of Blue print.
1. Site plan (plot of land):- The site plan is the location of building on the plot of land it shows the location of walk ways and drive ways.
2. Floor plan:- The floor plan is the overall size of the building. It shows the location of walls. It shows the electrical and plumbing details.
3. Elevations:- the elevation is the various views of the building. It shows doors, windows and other details as it appears in the exterior part of the building.
The elevation consists:
i. The front views
ii The side views
iii. The rear view of the building.
Symbols are used for identifying the building plan components. The important requirements about blue print are:
a. To be able to recognize symbols and dimensions in the building plan.
b. To be able to read and interpret simple details in the building plan.
c. To be able to identify important details in the domestic building.
ADVANTAGES OF BLUE PRINT
The blue prints have the following advantages (benefits).
a. The blue print is primarily used in the construction industries where much of the work is done out of doors.
b.The blue print is quite durable under continuous use.
c. The blue print is cheap (not expensive) to produce.
d. The blue print does not readily fade away due to the blue background.
We learnt how to interpret the various kinds of building components.
The blue print reading:- is the process of identifying and interpreting each part of the building plan as drawn and designed by the Architect. The blue print reading is also known as building plan reading. The ability to be able to read and be able to interpret building drawing on site depends on the knowledge of understanding of building symbols and convention associated with:
i.The floor plan view
ii. The elevation views
iii. The sectional views
Blue print reading involves the understanding and interpretation of various types of buildings drawings, lines and symbols.

Drawing and simple blue prints are the in communicating an idea between the Architect and the engineers.
