Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. List the basic skills of basket ball
ii. Explain the skills in basket ball game
iii. Demonstrate the skills.
Content :
The basic skills in basket ball games are :
Bouncing
Throwing
Catching
Dribbling
Bouncing : This is the hitting of the ball on the ground between the waist level and the ground as the player moves towards the opponent basket.
Throwing : This is the act of propelling the ball through the air by swinging the arm and releasing the ball from the hand.
Catching : This is the ability of a player to take hold or stop the ball that is travelling in the air.
Dribbling : This is the ability to bounce and move around with the ball without the opponent getting hold of the ball.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic to the learners by asking them to mention the skills in the game of basket ball.
Step 3 : Explains each of the skills of basket ball listed above.
Step 4 : Demonstrate the skills used in basket ball to the learners and calls them in turns to practice.
