Content:
Sources of History
Sources of History are things that tell us about people and events that took place in the past.
A source can be a document, a book or an object.
i. Storytellers
ii. Symbols,
iii. Objects and tools
iv. Dances, music and songs
Historical places are places such as important religious shrines, old buildings and museums. Museums and libraries collect and keep things for people to study History.
Examples of historical places:
i. Museum : Lagos museum at Onikan, Lagos State
ii. Old buildings : The Badagry First story building in Lagos State.
iii. Lagos Central library, Yaba, Lagos.
They help us to remember traditions, events and objects from long ago.
Celebrations is a way to remember an important or happy event.
Examples of celebration are:
i. Festivals
ii. Birthday party.
Other sources of History includes manuscript, journals, letters
Presentation Steps:
Step 1: Revision of the previous lesson explained with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2: Introduces the new topic to the learners by explaining the meaning of sources
Step 3: He/ she then identify the sources of history.
Step 4: The teacher then mentions some Historical places to the learners where historical facts are gotten from.
