Content :
The South-South Geopolitical Zones in Nigeria are referred to as the middle belt. They are called the Niger Delta states. The states are mostly found in the riverine area with mineral resources and crude oil.
The major occupations of the people of South-South are farming, fishing, trading, and hunting in the ancient times. The people are also known for making palm oil from palm kernel and plantation.
But today, the people are involved in mining activities for minerals and crude oils from the riverine area, which is predominantly affecting their fish farming and causing water pollution.
The means of transportation were use of canoe, boat, ship in the region. But today, there are several means of transporting by road and air.
The largest city in the South-South region is Port Harcourt.
