Content:
History is a record of what people and communities did in the past.
Storytellers tell stories to help us remember important things that happened in the past.
Some stories are about men and women who did great things when they were alive. They are called heroes and heroines of our societies.
Examples of heroes and heroines in Nigeria are:
1. Sir Herbert Macaulay
2. Mrs Funmilayo Ransome Kuti
3. Chief Obafemi Awolowo
4. Miss Mary Slessor
5. Sir Tafawa Balewa
6. Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe
7. Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowder
8. Jaja of Opobo
A person who studies history is called a historian.
History includes things that happened in the lives of people, their communities and their country.
Why is History important?
History is important because it helps us to understand our past, present and imagine the future .
