Previous Knowledge : Learners are familiar with the ear and knows that it is for hearing.
Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to :
i. Describe the sense of hearing
ii. Identify the parts of the hear.
iii. State the functions of the ear.
Content :
The ear is the sense of Hearing. It helps to hear or detect the various sounds that are pleasant and unpleasant to the ear in our environment. The ear helps us to maintain body balance.
Living things such as man and other animals has two ears.
The ear is divided into three parts namely :
i. Outer ear e. g. Pinna
ii. Middle ear e. g. Ear drum or ear canal
iii. Inner ear e. g. Auditory nerve, cochlea
Care of the Ear.
When cleaning the ear, do not use sharp objects. This can damage the ear drum.
Do not stay too close to very loud noise which can deafen the ear.
Sound made by living things and non-living things.
Man : clap, whistle, laugh, whisper, hiss, cry, etc
Animals : different animals make different sounds. For examples :
