Content :
A computer is an electronic device which accepts data, process data, stores data and brings out useful information.
A computer is an electronic machine that accepts input, processes the input and supplies the required result as output.
There are three types of computer and they are
- Analogue Computer
- Digital Computer
- Hybrid Computer
Classifications of Computer based on usage :
1. Analog Computer : This is a type of computer used for measurement. It is slow and measures the continuous change of a process with the help of physical quantity. Examples are : speedometer in a car, stabilizer, fuel Guage, bathroom scale, old telephone handsets, old radios, etc.
2. Digital Computer : This is a type of computer built for counting and calculation. They are built with the use of binary digits (0 and 1) to display information. The digital computer works with discrete signals. These are very fast.
Examples of digital computers are Calculator, mobile phone, laptop computer, digital wrist watch, e-readers, organizer, etc.
3. Hybrid computer are the types of computer that is used for both counting and measurement. They use both binary and analog signals to display information.
Examples of hybrid computers are : laptop, palm top, desktop computer, fuel dispenser, cars that runs ON gas and electricity, etc.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : Introduces the new lesson by explaining the classifications of computer.
Step 3 : Describe the classes of computer based on usage.
Step 4 : Give examples of the three classes of computers based on usage.
