Content :
Nouns are naming words. It gives name to people, animals things, places, thoughts, excitement, ideas and emotions.
Examples :Dorathy, Elizabeth, school, chairs, happiness, merriment, market, etc.
Types of Nouns.
there are basically five types of Nouns. These are :
- Proper Nouns
- Common Nouns
- Abstract Nouns
- concrete Nouns
- collective Nouns
Proper nouns : These are specific names or particular or definite names given to places, people, ideas, days of the week, months of the year, special days, titles of books, continents, major seas, etc. The first letter of all the proper nouns starts or are written with a capital letter. Examples are : Nigeria, Kola, Precious, Bayelsa, Christmas, Eid-el fitri, Australian kangaroo, River Nile, Monday, January, etc.
Common Nouns :These are general names or gender given to people, places, things, ideas, thoughts, emotions, etc.
Examples of common nouns are : tables, baby, doctor, pain, sugar, tea, courage, river, market, school, depth, height, etc.
Abstract Nouns :
Concrete Nouns : are material things that we can touch physically with our five senses. Examples of concrete nouns are cars, books, sheep, man, bag, ruler, etc.
