Content:
Unbalanced diet is that diet that does not contain one or more of the six classes of food. It is referred to as unbalanced diet. It may also be called malnutrition. Those nutrients or classes of food in want are said to be deficient.
Example of unbalanced diet are shown in the chart below:
An unbalanced diet might also be the lack of fruit and vegetables, or the over-consumption of breads, pastas and carbohydrates and the complete absence of proteins and vitamins
Lack of balanced diet can lead to malnutrition which may result in the following diseases such as :
i. kwashiorkor: This is a situation whereby there is excess intake of carbohydrates. It shows the lack or low intake of protein in a person’s diet.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions.
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic by explaining the meaning of unbalanced diet.
Step 3 : Identify and mentions another name for unbalanced diet.
Evaluation : The teacher reviews the lesson by asking the following questions :
