Lagos State Unified Schemes of Work for Primary Schools (Primary 4 – 6)
Online Resources
Instructional Material : Chart showing definition of some basic term and illustration on water Cycle.
Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson ,learners will be able to :
i. Describe water cycle
ii. Explain the processes involve in water cuvle
iii. State the relationship between the formation of rain and water Cycle.
Content :
In nature, there is Water Cycle through evaporation and condensation.
The process of water moving up from the earth’s surface to the cloud with the help of sunlight and then falls back as rain . This process is known as Water Cycle.
The following steps are required for water Cycle to take place.
i. The sun heats up the ocean, seas and rivers ;
ii. The heated water turns into vapour and rises into the air;
iii. The vapour often meet a cooler section above the surface of the earth;
iv. The vapour condenses into water and falls down as rain
v. Part of the rain evaporates again while others run into the rivers, seas and oceans.
Presentation Steps :
Step 1: The teacher revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking questions orally.
Step 2 : He/ she defines water cycles.
Step 3 : He/ she then asks the learner to explain condensation and evaporation.
Step 4 : The teacher then explain the two processes involved in water Cycle with illustrations .
Evaluation: The teacher reviews the lesson by asking the following questions :
1. What is evaporation?
2. Define condensation
3. The __________ helps to move water upward from the earth surface to the cloud. (a) canals (b) Sun (c) gutters
4. ____________ is the process of upward movement of water from the earth surface to the cloud and falling down as rain again.
Conclusion : At the end of the lesson , learners were able to answer the questions correctly.
Assignment:
1. _________ and _____________ are the two main processes of water Cycle.
2. Explain the Water Cycle with the use of diagram.
