Behavioural Objectives : By the end of the lesson, learners will be able to :
i. Describe water and identify its qualities.
ii. Mention uses of water.
iii. State the sources of water
Content:
Water is a colourless liquid which is needed in our everyday life. Water contains two molecules of hydrogen and one molecule of oxygen. The chemical symbol of water is H2O.
Water is a colourless, odourless and tasteless liquid, which contains no impurities in its pure form.
Uses of Water
1. Water is used for drinking.
2. Water is used for cooking.
3. It is used for bathing.
4. It is used for washing.
5. It is used for transportation
6. It is used for mixing chemicals.
7. Water is used for wetting plants.
8. Water is used for sporting activities
9. Water is used to generate electricity.
10. Water is used for fishing.
Sources of Water
Water are gotten from various sources. These includes:
i. Rain
ii. Borehole
iii. Well
iv. Tap
vi. Stream
vii. Spring
viii. Pond
ix. River
Presentation Steps:
Step I: The teacher revises the previous topic with the learners.
Step II: He/ She introduces the new topic to the learners by describing the composition of water.
Step III: He / She asks the learners to mention the sources of water.
Step IV: The learners are asked to state the uses of water.
Evaluation: The teacher reviews the lesson by asking questions as follows :
