Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson learners will be able to
i. Identify ways of Preventing intake of Harmful Substances.
ii. Identify the dangers of taking harmful substances.
Previous Knowledge : Learners have been taught meaning and examples of harmful substances.
Content :
To prevent intake of Harmful Substance, we must do the following :
1. Avoid taking of expired foods or drinks
2. Avoid eating food that are not well cooked.
3. Take only drugs that are prescribed by the doctors.
4. Do not eat unripe fruits because they contain acids.
5. Avoid eating sour foods
6. Do not pick up food on the floor and eat.
7. Avoid alcohol and cigarette
Symptoms of taking harmful substances
1. Convulsion
2. Stomach pain.
3. Vomiting
4. Increase in blood pressure
5. General body pains
6. Restlessness
Dangers of taking Harmful substances
1. Drinking of dirty water causes sickness in the body.
2. It affects the way we grow.
3. It may lead or cause lung diseases.
4. It may cause accident.
5. It may lead to death.
6. It causes stomach pains
Presentation Steps :
Step 1 : Revises the previous lesson with the learners by asking them questions orally
Step 2 : Introduces the new topic by describing ways of Preventing taking harmful substances
Step 3 : Identify the dangers of taking harmful substances and the symptoms.
